A Gatsby Halloween at White Rock Elks Hall

No plans for Halloween night? Alexander Browne and his Boulevardiers have you covered.
From the vault of ghostly melody, Alexander Browne and his Boulevardiers will re-animate the undead hits of the roaring ‘20s and the flirty ‘30s at White Rock Elks Hall, 1469 George St. on Saturday Oct. 31.
“It’s the spooktacular of the year – the perfect night to let your imagination run riot,” said bandleader/crooner Alexander Browne.
Browne and his band is well-known locally at venues such as Blue Frog Studios (as part of The Grand Revue in April 2026 and in its own showcase in June), the White Rock Jazz and Blues Festival, White Rock Sea Festival, at Peninsular Productions’ studio theatre, and at the Red Serge Gala.
This fun evening has been dubbed A Gatsby Halloween and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
“Imagine, if you will, that you are at a haunted dance hall or hotel ballroom, where authentic music from the Prohibition era still echoes in the walls, and shades of those long gone still return to enjoy a nightly revel,” explained Browne.
The band once again features all the Boulevardiers regulars, from vocalist Alison Lumley, trumpeter Henry Christian, trombonist Jeremy Berkman, and reedmen Tony Sheppard and Graham Howell. Angus Kellett will be the evenings keyboardist while Steve Toren will be playing Tuba and John Cody will be playing on his original 1920s Leedy drum kit.
“After this fall’s municipal and provincial elections are laid to rest, I think everyone will be ready for a party!” said Browne.
He also noted that there will be prizes for best costume during the evenings Halloween event.
“Which, given it is Halloween, can include everything from flapper finery and dapper gangster pinstripes to just about anything scary or unexpected – surprise us!”
Advance tickets (recommended) are $35.00 (cash only) available at Five Corners Cafe, 1173 Johnston Rd. (some may be available at the door, but buy early to avoid disappointment).
