Shoppers can expect spooky surprises in a new walk-thru Halloween attraction at Guildford Town Centre this month.

Admission is free at Secrets of the Haunted Bog, in a vacant unit at Entrance 6 (west side).

The temporary attraction, opened Friday (Oct. 9), features water-based haunted haze in low light, animatronics and mysterious creatures lurking during a two-minute walk.

Wee ones under age five may find it a little too spooky, but older kids and adults should delight in playful frights.

“Now darker, scarier and back in a vacant unit,” promises guildfordtowncentre.com.

If you go, bring a non-perishable food item for Surrey Food Bank. Guildford Town Centre will match the donation with $2 per item donated, $5,000 maximum.

Until Oct. 31, hours for Secrets of the Haunted Bog are noon to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Look for the attraction near London Drugs, across from Play Park on the mall’s lower level.

In other Guildford Town Centre news, opening soon near the Halloween attraction is Lee’s Donuts, launched at Granville Island Public Market in 1979 and now selling sweet treats at 11 locations across Metro Vancouver.
