Most Valuable Promotions on Monday is making several organizational changes as it expands its fighting business, appointing different GMs for boxing and MMA and bringing on a new head of digital strategy.
JAKE PAUL’s company is naming Top Rank Boxing Head of Content Strategy & Programming JOE SETLEY Senior VP/Products & Digital Media, giving him what MVP says is oversight of its social media, website, mobile apps, newsletters and content library. He will report to MVP co-founder & CEO NAKISA BIDARIAN and MVP President LENNY DANIELS.
In the summer, the originally boxing-focused MVP announced a merger with the PFL, after experimenting with its first MMA event in the spring with the RONDA ROUSEY-GINA CARANO card on Netflix. The PFL brand could stick around in some fashion but MVP will be the main brand going forward, SBJ previously reported, and PFL CEO JOHN MARTIN recently departed the company.
MVP now has almost 400 athletes under its management, according to an MVP memo seen by SBJ, compared to the nearly 700 on UFC’s roster.
The GM for boxing will be MVP’s former general counsel RICK TORRES, while PFL Head of Global Events DAVID GREEN will become MVP’s GM of MMA. PFL exec JIM BRANSON will become MVP Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel. PFL Chief Communications Officer SUZY BERKOWITZ will continue in the same position for MVP.
PFL CCO JASON OBERLANDER will become MVP Chief Brand Partnerships Officer. PFL CFO SCOTT ARONSKY will continue in the same position for MVP. PFL Managing Director of International JAMES FREWIN will become the GM of Athlete and GM of International, while PFL exec MIKE KOGAN becomes Senior VP/Global Fighter Operations.
