Danish sprayer manufacturer Hardi is introducing a new and more advanced spray boom management system, called Auto Terrain Pro, for Twin Force and Delta Force booms. The main development: improved sensors and an additional sensor on the frame that is designed to predict the movement of the spray boom.
With the Auto Terrain Pro automatic boom stabilisation system, an additional sensor is mounted on the sprayer’s rear axle. This sensor detects when the sprayer passes through a hollow or over a bump in the field. Based on the deflection of that sensor, the boom is corrected immediately. According to importer Homburg Holland in Stiens, Friesland, this system provides a more consistent spray pattern. The spray boom does not have to be corrected after every movement, but is primarily kept level.
New suspension
In addition, Hardi has modified the suspension of the spray boom. The new suspension has been fitted with an additional cylinder. This Smart cylinder works as a kind of damper that absorbs the corrections of the spray boom. This makes the movements less jerky.
An additional cylinder has been fitted in the sprayer’s new suspension. This Smart cylinder acts as a damper for the boom’s height control. According to Hardi, this results in a more stable, less jerky spray boom.Additional sensors
As standard, the spray boom is equipped with 3 ultrasonic sensors to measure the height to the crop. As an option, a fourth or fifth sensor can be added. Homburg does not expect much demand in the Netherlands for those additional sensors, as they are mainly intended for fields on hilly terrain. The importer also reports that all sensors are maintenance-free.
Available up to 39 m
Auto Terrain Pro is available on spray booms with a length of 24 to 39m. The option has a starting price of €8.000.
