Herve Dagorne has toasted the opportunity to thrust some of Hong Kong’s brightest young talents into world-class competition after the city was chosen to host track cycling World Cup legs in 2026 and 2027.
The UCI World Cup is returning next year, after five years of operating as the UCI Track Nations Cup. This year’s edition was especially unsatisfactory, after teams learned late that it would be contested over a single leg in Turkey, in March.
Hong Kong’s head coach Dagorne said that the global cycling governing body, the UCI, had originally planned to take 2026’s second leg to Cairo, but the Egyptian capital failed to meet the hosting requirements.
The event will now take place at Hong Kong Velodrome in Tseung Kwan O from April 17 to 19 and will be sandwiched between the legs held in Australia and Malaysia.

In 2027, when the World Cup competition will provide qualifying points for the following year’s Olympics, Hong Kong will again be the host of the series’ second stop. The opening leg will take place in Canada, and the series will later wrap up in mainland China.
