The City of Brampton is asking residents to share their concerns about neighbourhood safety, their sense of belonging and the services they need as work begins on the next phase of the city’s Community Safety Action Plan.

The city’s Community Safety and Well-Being Survey is intended to gather feedback on residents’ experiences and priorities, helping officials identify local concerns and develop initiatives aimed at making Brampton a safer and more connected community.

The feedback will help shape the next version of the Community Safety Action Plan, which will cover 2028 and beyond, according to the city.

Residents are being asked to consider what safety and well-being mean to them, what issues are affecting their neighbourhoods and what programs or resources could better support them and their families.

The survey looks beyond crime alone, also examining how connected people feel to their neighbourhoods and the wider Brampton community.

Among the questions, participants are asked how safe they feel in their neighbourhood, how strong their sense of belonging is and how well they know their neighbours. They can also indicate whether they would like stronger relationships with neighbours or find it difficult to interact with people in their community.

Participants are also asked about their connection to Brampton, including whether they live, work or study in the city or visit for cultural, sporting and entertainment activities.

The city says the information will help identify concerns and guide future safety and well-being initiatives tailored to Brampton’s diverse communities. The survey is expected to take between five and 10 minutes to complete, and responses are confidential.

The results will inform the city’s Community Safety and Well-Being Office as it develops the next phase of the action plan and considers how programs and services can better respond to local needs.

Brampton’s existing Community Safety Action Plan has involved collaboration across city departments and input from residents, community partners and other organizations. The city has also worked with partners including Peel Region and Peel Regional Police on community safety and well-being priorities.

The broader approach recognizes that community safety involves more than responding to incidents. It also includes prevention, connecting people with services and addressing issues that can affect people’s ability to feel safe and supported.

Residents can complete the survey online through the city’s Community Safety and Well-Being Survey page. A Punjabi-language version is also available.
