Unity Health Toronto has become the first healthcare network in Canada to receive the With Glowing Hearts designation, an honour presented by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) in recognition of employers that demonstrate exceptional support for military reservists. Reservists play a unique role in Canadian society, serving part time in the military while pursuing civilian careers.

This designation highlights Unity Health’s commitment to reservists across the organization, who contribute both to Canada’s military readiness and to the delivery of patient care in Toronto’s communities. It also marks an important milestone in the organization’s growing partnership with the CAF and CFLC.

“We are proud to support reservists through our military leave policies and by creating an environment that recognizes the value of military service. At Unity Health reservists can continue to serve Canada while still growing their careers. ” says Manson Locke, Vice President, People, Mission and Culture and Chief Human Resources Officer. “Their experiences strengthen our teams and enhance the care we provide to patients and communities across Toronto.”

Several Unity Health employees balance their careers with service as Canadian Armed Forces reservists. Their commitment extends beyond the workplace and reflects a dedication to patients, colleagues and communities.

Receiving the With Glowing Hearts designation is both an honour and a testament to Unity Health’s commitment to supporting members of the Reserve Force. The organization hopes the recognition will raise awareness of the important contributions reservists make in workplaces and communities across Canada and looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Forces Liaison Council.
