Also seeking the seat in Victoria are Centre BC’s Manav Manro and the BC Green Party’s Nolen Scott.

Peace Arch News reached out to all of the candidates with a questionnaire intended to introduce them to voters. Candidates were given the same questions, the same word-count limit and the same deadline.

Below are the responses received, in alphabetical order:

Manav Manro, CentreBC

One sentence bio: (max 25 words)

Manav Manro is a Surrey entrepreneur and community advocate focused on practical leadership, economic opportunity, and building a stronger future for Surrey-Panorama.

Top 3 priorities (10 words max each):

Improve access to healthcare, education, and public safety.
Make life more affordable for families and individuals.
Support small businesses, local jobs, and responsible growth.

If elected, what would you like to achieve in your first 100 days? (100 words max)

My first priority will be to listen to Surrey-Panorama residents and understand the challenges they face every day. I will work with community members, local businesses, and relevant stakeholders to identify practical priorities in healthcare, education, affordability, transportation, and public safety. I will advocate for solutions that reflect Surrey’s rapid growth, support local employment, and help small businesses succeed. I believe public service starts with listening, requires accountability, and must focus on tangible progress for the people we represent.

Why should you be elected? (No more than 50 words)

As an entrepreneur and active community member, I understand the importance of hard work, opportunity, and accountability. I bring a practical perspective, strong local connections, and a commitment to listening to residents. My goal is to represent Surrey-Panorama with integrity, build common ground, and turn community concerns into meaningful action.

Nolen Scott, BC Green Party

One sentence bio: (max 25 words)

I’m an Assistant Director in the Film Industry, and a community builder, dedicated to building systems built by the people for the people.

Top 3 priorities (10 words max each):

Public Healthcare, let’s fund it properly, and expand it

Fair Share, a tax on the ultra wealthy (based on assets, not income)

Build public and co-op housing British Columbians can actually afford

If elected, what would you like to achieve in your first 100 days? (100 words max)

Push to divert all resources currently invested in LNG, to Public renewable energy projects. Bringing British Columbians hundreds of thousands of jobs. Fight for the adoption of the Fair Share Act, which would generate $22 billion from the extremely wealthy, and apply pressure to use that money to end the ens***ification of our Public Health System. Secure a dedication to adopt proportional representation for the next election, call for a moratorium on AI datacentres, and work in co-operation with municipal governments to bring the Skytrain to Highway 10. Finally, get the government back in the business of building houses.

Why should you be elected? (No more than 50 words)

Unlike my opposition, I get where you’re coming from. I don’t belong to yacht clubs, and I’m not a career public servant of a disjointed neo liberal party. I’m here because someone needs to stand up against the Conservatives. I live in Surrey Panorama, and I think we deserve better.

Jinny Sims, BC NDP

One sentence bio: (max 25 words)

I’m Jinny Sims, a former MLA, teacher, union leader and federal cabinet minister who has spent her career standing up for working families.

Top 3 priorities (10 words max each):

Lower fuel costs and take on the grocery giants.
Protect ICBC savings and extend the rate freeze.
Keep building the schools, health care and transit Surrey families need.

If elected, what would you like to achieve in your first 100 days? (100 words max)

In my first 100 days, I’ll advance our affordability plan to suspend 10 cents per litre of provincial fuel tax, stop gas companies from price gouging, cap grocery giants’ profit margins on essentials, and extend ICBC’s rate freeze for three years. I’ll also keep Surrey’s major projects moving, including the second hospital and cancer centre, SFU medical school, Surrey-Langley SkyTrain, new school seats and safer roads for growing communities like Surrey-Panorama.

Why should you be elected? (No more than 50 words)

Surrey needs a government that can move forward, not one hanging by a thread. The BC NDP is building new schools, adding classroom space, recruiting more doctors and nurses, and delivering a second Surrey hospital and cancer centre. I’ll keep those investments moving and protect Surrey families from Conservative cuts.

Bryan Tepper, Conservative Party of B.C.

One sentence bio: (max 25 words)

Father, Husband, retired RCMP officer. Member of our community that has had the greatest honour to serve as your MLA.

Top 3 priorities (10 words max each):

Crime and Public Safety
Economy
Access to Health Care

If elected, what would you like to achieve in your first 100 days? (100 words max)

While I would obviously ensure our party quickly follows through on our platform, I also have been working on a private member’s bill that has had multipartisan support. The bill is to protect people, predominantly women, from the misuse of NDAs. These NDAs are too often used to protect offenders from criminal charges when victims have suffered abuse.

Why should you be elected? (No more than 50 words)

Why should you be elected? I’ve spent decades as a Surrey RCMP officer keeping our streets safe. As your MLA and shadow Minister for Solicitor General, I’ll keep fighting for victims, holding offenders accountable. Re-elect me to finish the job.
