Two Montreal police officers have been suspended following reports that one urinated on at least one unhoused person while on duty and another photographed a suspect in a “humiliating” position, police said Friday.
The officers, both assigned to Station 21, located on Berri St. in downtown Montreal, were suspended in recent weeks over the separate incidents, as first reported by La Presse. The station serves Old Montreal and eastern downtown, where many unhoused people live.
Both suspensions are with pay and the police department’s professional standards division is now conducting internal investigations, not criminal ones, according to Jean-Pierre Brabant, a Montreal police spokesperson.
