The Pittsburgh Penguins captain recorded his 1,110th career assist against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday, moving past Joe Thornton for sole possession of seventh place on the NHL’s all-time assists list.
Crosby now sits 25 assists behind Paul Coffey, who occupies sixth place with 1,135. Wayne Gretzky remains the league’s all-time leader with 1,963.
It’s the latest in a long list of accomplishments for the 39-year-old, who is in his 22nd season with the Penguins and has already established himself as the franchise’s all-time points leader.
