It’s the only airline offering a direct route.
A popular Canadian airline will offer the only direct service from Vancouver on a route starting in the new year.
Porter Airlines will launch direct flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Ontario’s London International Airport (YXU) on April 12, 2027, reviving an option travellers haven’t had in more than a year, according to a press release.
Currently, Air Canada and WestJet offer connecting flights through Calgary and Toronto. No airline offers a direct service. Flair Airlines previously offered seasonal direct flights on the route but discontinued the service in September 2025.
Porter Airlines offers a popular “no middle seat” configuration on every aircraft. The airline also offers a signature economy service, with complimentary wine and beer served in glassware and premium snacks.
The Ontario-based carrier began operating flights out of YVR in February 2023, with flights from Vancouver to Toronto on the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft featuring free and fast WiFi.
After adding a new route to Phoenix in February, Porter spokesperson Brad Cicero told Vancouver Is Awesome the airline had plans to offer more routes out of Vancouver across to Ontario. At that time, it had recently established a crew base for flight attendants and pilots in Vancouver, allowing it to continue exploring options.
“People have really responded well to the Porter experience,” he said.
Porter introduces direct flights from Vancouver to London, Ontario
Porter’s new Vancouver route is one of five new domestic routes launching in spring 2027. It will also offer direct flights connecting London with Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal-MET and Ottawa.
One-way trips on the new route start for as little as $386.88 in PorterClassic (see gallery above for pricing options).
The YVR option will operate 11 times weekly on the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft with 132 seats, including 16 PorterReserve, 20 PorterClassic Stretch and 96 PorterClassic seats. Each seat has a power outlet at every seat.

PorterReserve offers an all-inclusive travel experience featuring “extra-legroom seating at the front of the cabin, dedicated check-in and boarding, two included checked bags, and complimentary fresh meals and premium cocktails on longer routes.” Passengers can also select PorterClassic to customize flights à la carte.
Travellers flying to Ottawa or Montreal will enjoy the highest frequencies, with thrice-daily service to London, allowing business travellers to make same-day trips.
“Flights to Montreal Metropolitan Airport feature access to the city’s newest air travel experience. Located 30 minutes from downtown, MET provides a premium waiting lounge environment that is fast and easy to navigate from check-in to boarding,” according to the airline.
