A 95-year-old man was found dead Sunday on the property of the Elogia retirement complex in Montreal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. The circumstances surrounding his death remain undetermined.

Montreal police (SPVM) say a call came in around 3:10 a.m. about an unconscious man.

The man was discovered in a bush on the grounds of the residence, located on Sherbrooke Street East, near L’Assomption Boulevard. He was a resident of the complex.

An employee of the private seniors’ residence made the discovery while carrying out a patrol of the property.

SPVM confirmed that the body had no signs of violence.

Temperatures dropped to 2.3 C overnight from Saturday into Sunday, raising questions about the possible impact of the cold.

The victim reportedly lived in the complex’s independent-living section.

A coroner’s investigation is expected to clarify the circumstances of the incident and determine the cause of death.
