New York IslandersForward Mitchell Chaffee has been emergency recalled from AHL Hamilton Monday morning.

Chaffee, 28, has four goals and six points in six games with the Hammers this season.

In 2025-26, he spent the majority of the season with the AHL’s Syracuse Crunch, where he scored 24 goals with 57 points in 54 games. He also appeared in 11 games with the Tampa Bay Lightning, where he had one assist.

The Grand Rapids, Mich., native has skated in 109 career NHL games, scoring 16 goals with 26 points, split between the Minnesota Wild and the Lightning.

The Islanders had two forwards depart Saturday’s 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs as Matias Maccelli and Cal Ritchie both exited with lower-body injuries.

New York also officially placed Alexander Romanov on the injured reserve as he is not expected back until mid-April at the earliest due to a torn ACL he suffered on Oct. 6 against the Rangers.

The 26-year-old also missed most of last season after suffering a shoulder injury on Nov. 19 that eventually required surgery.
