Winnipeg police say four people are facing charges following a melee at an apartment building early Sunday morning.
WPS says officers responded to a report of a physical assault at an apartment along Portage Avenue around 2:15 a.m. on Oct. 18.
When officers arrived at the apartment, they found a group of people in a hallway, including two men who were injured, and were later taken to hospital in stable condition. At the time, police also recovered a CO2-powered pistol.
Over the course of an investigation, police learned that an armed man was allegedly connected to an earlier incident at a nearby restaurant, where it’s believed he was refused service, before staff allegedly saw a gun in his hand.
From there, police learned that a group of men went to the apartment building and knocked on the door of a suite, and when a man inside answered, he was allegedly hit in the face with the pistol, before a fight took place and bear spray was used.
It is believed that the men were all known to each other and that the armed man who was at the restaurant was one of the men involved during the altercation.
As a result, Winnipeg police took four men into custody, and they are all facing charges.
