The UK’s largest indoor tennis event returns this week some of the biggest rising stars head to the Wrexham Open in search of glory.

Among them is Armenia’s Alina Charaeva, who made headlines by beating world number one Elena Rybakina in the China Open earlier this month.

The 24-year-old also beat 2024 Wrexham Open winner Sonay Kartal at the China Open.

The home crowd in Wrexham were treated to a Welsh winner in both the singles and doubles event in 2025, as Wales’ Mimi Xu claimed both titles – alongside Ella McDonald.

Xu will not be defending her titles, opting to compete at the W75 Saguenay tournament in Canada.

This year Alicia Dudeney, Hannah Klugman and Junior Nationals champion Daniella Britton are among the British players seeking success in Wrexham.

Greet Minnen and former top 50 players, Lucia Bronzetti, Linda Fruhvirtova, Rebecca Sramkova and Claral Burel are just some of the international players competing.

The W100 ITF World Tennis Tour event takes place between 18-25 October, and is set to be the UK’s biggest women’s tournament outside of the grass-court season this year.
