You can take the writer out of Winnipeg, but you can’t take Winnipeg out of the writer.
Don Macdonald, a former Gazette journalist, has just published his second mystery novel, The Faithful, and like the first, Omand’s Creek, it’s set in his hometown of Winnipeg.
Macdonald moved to Montreal from the Peg in 1989 at the age of 28, coming to work as a reporter with The Canadian Press here. He has been in Montreal ever since, moving eventually from CP to The Gazette, where he toiled for 12 years as a reporter, most notably in the Business section. After leaving The Gazette, he joined the Business Development Bank of Canada as a writer and editor.
