The PQ cabinet is officially sworn in. What now?
Now that the cabinet of ministers has been unveiled, what are their priorities?
As much talk as there is about a sovereignty referendum whenever the PQ is in power, the party has said it would delay any referendum until after President Donald Trump leaves the Oval Office — so at least until 2029.
In the meantime, St-Pierre Plamondon has said that he wants to quickly unlock emergency funds to tackle homelessness and boost assistance for food banks.
He’s also said he wants to establish a secretariat for government efficiency and regulatory streamlining as well as introduce a bill freezing the salaries of elected officials and Crown corporation executives.
The work officially begins for this minority government. The cabinet’s first meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET today. The National Assembly is expected to resume on Nov. 17.
