It appears to be a new Italian-American cafe chain.
Signs are up at two locations for Tucci’s Italian, which appears to be a new cafe brand launching in Metro Vancouver.
At 4440 Fraser St., in a new development, signs are up for the new chain, advertising the incoming cafe as a “trattoria-style, fast-casual Italian eatery.”
The menu will include broadly Italian-American offerings including New York-style pizza, focaccia sandwiches and pasta inspired by Italian deli-restaurants.
Counter and table service is planned in-house, along with takeout and delivery options.
Signs are also up seeking employees for the new restaurant.
Meanwhile, a video posted by MKB Ventures shows renovations taking place for a Tucci’s location in North Vancouver at Parkgate Village (at the corner of Mt. Seymour Road and Mt. Seymour Parkway).
In the video, an MKB representative refers to the new brand as Mama Tucci’s and says the North Vancouver location will be the first in Canada.
It appears to be replacing the former Ingrain Pastificia location, itself an Italian pasta place.
Tucci’s appears to have a limited online presence. An Instagram account with the same logo exists, but there are no posts or location information. The account links to a WordPress website that hasn’t been built yet.
There doesn’t appear to be any connection with actor and gourmand Stanley Tucci.
However, there appears to be a connection to Edmonton-founded Famoso, a Canadian pizzeria chain with 32 locations across western Canada and southern Ontario. Filings with the federal government show Famoso Inc. trademarked the name Mama Tucci’s Original Italian Beef. It was registered earlier this year.
Tucci’s and Famoso has been reached for comment.
