Carolina Hurricanes
Seth Jarvis will be a game-time decision for the Hurricanes at the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday (9 p.m. ET; TVAS, SNW, CARNHL, HHN). The forward had surgery in June to repair a torn labrum and rotator cuff in his right shoulder. He was a full participant at Hurricanes practice Wednesday, skating on a line with Jordan Martinook and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and took part in an optional skate Thursday. “I’m ready to play and now it’s up to the coaching staff whether they want me in or not,” Jarvis said. “It’s good to be done with it and hopefully, knock on wood, there won’t be any more problems. … Mentally, I’m ready to go so it’s just about getting back up to game speed.” Jarvis led Carolina with 32 goals last season and had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 19 games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, helping Carolina win its first championship since 2006. “I don’t know how much to expect, he hasn’t played a game in a long, long time, but just having him getting closer to be available is huge for us,” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said.
