Surrey Fire Services firefighters were busy battling a blaze at a two-storey home beside Brownsville Pub & RV Thursday night.
Firefighters arrived at the fire, in the 10900-block of Olsen Rd. near Old Yale Road, around 11 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 22), to find large flames and plumes of smoke coming from the home, according to a photographer at the scene.
The flames and smoke could be seen all around the area, including New Westminster, the photographer noted.
Several firefighters and fire trucks responded to the fire, which heavily damaged the home.
Surrey Fire Service assistant chief Mike McNamara confirmed no one was injured in the fire, which took 18 firefighters and six trucks to extinguish.
It’s still too early to determine the cause of the fire, McNamara said Friday morning (Oct. 23), and noted there was another, separate fire in the trailer park nearby that caused the displacement of four people.
No one was injured in that fire, either; the cause is still under investigation.
