B.C. VOTES: What you need to know on Election Day in Surrey, White Rock
Published 5:40 am Saturday, October 24, 2026
With a snap B.C. election called, Surrey and White Rock voters are headings to the polls today (Oct. 24) to cast their ballots for provincial representatives.
Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. across the province; advance voting finished on Wednesday (Oct. 21) and mail-in ballots were due Oct. 18.
BC NDP leader David Eby called the election on Sept. 22, shortly after BC Conservative leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay resigned after several weeks of chaos within the opposition party. Lorne Doerkson has since taken over as BC Conservative leader, and he and Eby have spent the past month working to convince B.C. residents – with a major focus on those right here in Surrey’s 10 ridings – that they are the best alternative for the province.
The Oct. 24 election will see voters cast ballots for MLA candidates in 10 Surrey and White Rock ridings (candidates and their profiles linked below). A total of 47 candidates are vying for 10 MLA positions in Surrey’s 10 ridings.
Voters can find their assigned voting places on the ‘Where to Vote’ cards that were mailed, or visit wheretovote.elections.bc.ca, and bring identification with them to vote, which can include a B.C. driver’s licence, a B.C. Identification Card (BCID), a B.C. Service Card (woth photo), or another card issued by the Government of B.C. or Canada that shows your photo, name, and address, or a Certificate of Indian Status.
According to Elections BC, you are eligible to vote in the election if you’re a Canadian citizen, 18 or older on Oct. 24, 2026, and a resident of B.C. since April 23, 2026.
Voters will elect 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). Each MLA represents an electoral district, or riding, and has a seat in the provincial legislature. A minimum of 47 seats will be require to make a majority government.
Elections BC has the final list of all of the province’s candidates on its website as well.
