The closest council contest
The smallest gap between the top two candidates across the ten council races was in the Wards 9 and 10 regional contest. Sukhman Sangha’s 7,406 votes put him 286 ahead of Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, who received 7,120. That is the margin in the posted unofficial count, not a certified outcome or an announcement that a recount will take place.
Vote shares are calculated within each office’s candidate-vote total. They should not be read as shares of everyone eligible to vote or compared with another contest’s raw vote totals as a measure of citywide support.
Turnout and what happens next
The results system reports 123,133 ballots cast and uses 428,012 registered voters, putting turnout at 28.77 per cent. The ballot total includes people who did not record a valid choice in every contest, which is why it differs from the mayoral candidate-vote total.
Ontario’s 2026 voters’ guide says municipal results become official when the clerk makes the declaration, usually after checks following Voting Day. No certification date is established by the unofficial totals themselves.
The City’s election calendar lists November 15 as the start of the new council term and requires campaign signs to be removed before 8 p.m. on October 29.
For the distinction between preliminary returns and a formal declaration, see Bramptonist’s election results process guide. These Brampton election results cover the mayor and all ward-based city and regional council contests; the City’s portal also lists school-board races.
