Victoria, B.C.’s Mel Pemble continues to add to her extensive resumé of world championship medals. At 2026 para cycling track world championships in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, the highly decorated Canadian already has a silver medal.
Para cycling track world championships run from Thursday Oct. 29 to Sunday Nov. 1 in The Netherlands.
On Friday, Pempble earned silver in the Women’s C3 Time Tiral. Posting a personal best time of 1:16.161, Pemble was just 0.170 seconds behind the winning time. That win went to the home nation, with Aniek Van Den Aarssen.
Other results from Day 2 of 2026 para cycling track world championships include Alex Hayward finishing fifth in the kilo final and Jessica Law placing ninth in the elimination race.
A rapidly growing medal count
With Friday’s silver, Pemble lands an incredible 12th world championships medal. That tally includes four medals from 2025 para track world championships alone. The Victoria racer has also held world records on the boards, and represented Canada at both the winter and summer Paralympic Games.
All those medals in the velodrome come after a successful career in para skiing, which saw Pemble compete at the PyeongChang 2018 Games.
