Toronto CEO David Morton has released a statement about the traumatic attack on him, his wife and daughters in their Bridal Path home on Thursday morning, confirming the horrific details and condemning growing violence in the city.

“What should have been the safety and security of our own home became a terrifying and life-threatening experience,” he wrote.

Morton confirmed that three masked individuals forced their way into the family home, armed with handguns and a hammer. Three family members were shot and are recovering in hospital, he said, adding that all four members of the family were also attacked with a hammer, leaving all injured and requiring emergency medical attention.

“It is difficult to put into words the trauma of experiencing something so horrific in the one place where everyone should feel safest: their own home,” he wrote, and expressed gratitude to the police, emergency responders, paramedics, doctors, nurses and hospital staff who acted quickly and have been providing care.

“We also want to thank our extended family, friends, neighbours and the many people who have reached out with messages of concern, prayers and support. The outpouring of kindness has meant a great deal to us during this incredibly difficult time.”

Meanwhile, Morton said that the family is “also deeply concerned about the increasing violence associated with home invasions and the safety of families throughout Toronto. No family should ever have to experience this. People should be able to sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of armed individuals breaking in and threatening their lives.”

He adds that the family hope the individuals responsible will be brought to justice and asked anyone with information that could assist the police investigation to come forward.

He also asked that the media and public respect the family’s need for privacy as they recover from the “traumatic experience. We are a family, and our priority is getting through this together.”

Morton is 75. The CEO is a graduate from Toronto Metropolitan University’s Hospitality and Tourism program. His wife, Doriana Zohil-Morton, 64, is the MAC Group’s president. Their daughter Maggie, who has a Bachelor of Arts in health studies from Queen’s University and a Master of Arts in health promotion from Dalhousie University, also works at the company in various fields, including sales, operations, and marketing, it says online.

Cristina is the founder of Zohil-Morton Law, focused on immigration. She attended university in England and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2024, according to the firm’s website.

On Friday afternoon, police released descriptions of three suspects and warned that they were considered armed and dangerous. All three were wearing dark clothing and face masks.

The first suspect is described as a Black man, around 20 years old, with a thin build. The second and third suspects were described as men, also around 20 years old.

Police have not revealed a motive, although Toronto Police Service Insp. Kristy Smith said at a news conference Thursday that the suspects demanded “valuables from within the home.” She said that she believes that the home was chosen due to its location in an affluent neighbourhood and no information at this time indicated that it was targeted.

The suspects drove away from the scene in a dark-coloured SUV before police arrived.

“We recognize how frightening and disturbing an incident like this is,” said Smith. She added that there would be an increased police presence in the area during the investigation.

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow posted on X that she was “deeply troubled” by the incident.

“My thoughts are with the family and their loved ones, who are going through something no family should ever have to face. I am praying for their full recovery,” she wrote.

In May 2024, a person was arrested after trying to gain access to Canadian rapper Drake’s $100-million Bridle Path home. Earlier that week, a security guard was injured after a person shot at the house. The latter was believed to be fuelled by a feud between Drake and another rapper.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Toronto Family Speaks Out Following Violent Home Invasion in the Bridle Path

TORONTO, ONTARIO – October 30, 2026

David Morton, CEO of MAC Group, issued the following statement on behalf of his family following the horrific and violent home invasion at their residence on Hyde Park Circle in Toronto’s prestigious Bridle Path neighbourhood during the early morning hours of October 29:

What should have been the safety and security of our own home became a terrifying and life-threatening experience.

Three masked individuals forcibly entered our residence, armed with handguns and a hammer. During the attack, three members of our family were shot and are currently recovering in hospital. All four members of our family were also attacked with a hammer, leaving everyone injured and requiring emergency medical attention.

It is difficult to put into words the trauma of experiencing something so horrific in the one place where everyone should feel safest: their own home.

Our family is extremely grateful to the Toronto Police Service, emergency responders, paramedics, doctors, nurses and hospital staff who responded so quickly and have been instrumental in providing care and assistance.

We also want to thank our extended family, friends, neighbours and the many people who have reached out with messages of concern, prayers and support. The outpouring of kindness has meant a great deal to us during this incredibly difficult time.

While we are focused on recovery and supporting one another as a family, we are also deeply concerned about the increasing violence associated with home invasions and the safety of families throughout Toronto.

No family should ever have to experience this. People should be able to sleep peacefully in their homes without fear of armed individuals breaking in and threatening their lives.

We sincerely hope that the individuals responsible will be identified, apprehended and brought to justice. We encourage anyone with information that may assist the Toronto Police investigation to come forward.

At this time, we respectfully ask the media and public to allow our family the privacy and time needed to recover from this traumatic experience.

We are a family, and our priority is getting through this together.
