With the NHL offseason coming to a close in the next few weeks, the Vancouver Canucks are predicted to move on from one of their only big additions they made this offseason.
All reports now point to the Canucks looking for solutions via a trade, as the trade market in general offers more enticing names.
«Hearing the Canucks have cooled off on pursuing late summer UFA Jack Roslovic.
Club wants a full-time center upgrade, and doesn’t see that player available in the UFA bargain bin. It’s going to take a trade.» – Thomas Drance
Vancouver Canucks predicted to trade Controversial forward Evander Kane at the 2026 Trade Deadline
Obviously the lack of moves by Allvin is concerning, but even more so now that the one big trade he made this summer might not even last.
According to Oilers analyst David Staples, he has officially predicted that the Oilers will re-acquire Kane from the Canucks at the Trade Deadline in the spring.
My Oilers hot takes for the coming season:
* Darnell Nurse will be the story of the 2026 playoffs — but in a good way this time
* The Oilers will trade for Evander Kane at the deadline.
* Noah Philp will be the surprise player of the year, like Podkolzin was last season.
There is a clear reason why this statement is considered a «hot take».
The glaring lack of depth the Canucks have in their bottom-6 make it very unlikely that Kane would be there main trade piece this deadline.
This is especially true when they are they are looking for upgrades in their top-6 in order to win now, not later.
But, with how this offseason went, you never know what could happen this season.
