The Seattle Kraken have traded forward Shane Wright to the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Matthew Wood on Sunday.

The deal is one-for-one.

Wright, 22, had three goals with one assist in 14 games this season while averaging 14:14 of ice time.

In 2025-26, he scored 12 goals with 27 points in 74 games with the Kraken.

The 6-foot centre is in the final season of his three-year, entry-level deal that carries an annual cap hit of $886,667. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

Wright recorded 19 goals and 44 points in 79 games in his first full season in the NHL in 2024-25.

Drafted fourth overall by the Kraken in 2022, Wright has 36 goals and 78 points in 169 career games.

The Burlington, Ont., native represented Canada at the 2023 World Juniors, recording four goals and seven points and taking home a gold medal.

“We are excited to add Shane to our mix of forwards,” Predators general manager and president of hockey operations Chris MacFarland said in a statement. “We feel he will bring a strong, two-way game to our team and will add to the pace of our lineup. We believe Shane will continue to grow as a player, and we look forward to working with him.”

Wood, 21, had one goal with two assists in 13 games this season with Nashville while averaging 14:04 of ice time.

As a rookie in 2025-26, he scored 17 goals with 30 points in 71 games.

A first-round pick (15th overall) by Nashville in 2023, Wood is in the final year of his three-year, entry-level contract and will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season.
