Ottawa Senators forward Dylan Cozens could be at risk of facing further discipline after he was ejected for a high hit on Anaheim Ducks forward A.J. Greer on Sunday.
Cozens was given a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct halfway through the third period for the hit. The infraction came with the Ducks up 5-3, having erased an early 3-0 lead by the Senators. Anaheim went on to take the game 6-3.
Cozens caught Greer with the hit in the Senators zone just after he passed the puck to a teammate. The Ducks veteran remained down for several seconds before getting up and charging at Cozens, being restrained by officials.
Greer was given a two-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct and did not take another shift in the game.
The call of an ejection for Cozens was confirmed upon review and the Ducks iced the game with a goal from Roger McQueen once the team’s power play began.
Cozens has four goals and 10 points in 16 games this season, his second full year with the Senators. He had 28 goals and 59 points in 82 games last year.
The Senators saw their record fall to 9-6-1 on the season with the loss. Ottawa will visit the Buffalo Sabres and then return home to face the Utah Mammoth on Saturday.
