Wild Bill:
William Stromgren had a moment he’ll never forget 9:14 into the third period.
After Adam Klapka raced down the right wing with the puck, Stromgren bee-lined for the front of the San Jose net. Klapka was tripped up, fell, retained possession, then spun a puck goalward for the young Swede to grab, turn and chip over Yaroslav Askarov’s left shoulder for his first career National Hockey League marker.
Stromgren, who had amassed 11 points in 11 games with the AHL’s Wranglers to start the season, counted NHL goal – and point – No. 1 in his fourth career contest after being selected by the Flames in the second round of the 2021 Draft.
