Gizmo is an 11-year-old chihuahua who’s been missing from his Winnipeg home since Friday. His owner says he went for a walk with someone known to her but never returned. Now, she’s offering a $1,200 reward, hoping to bring him home safely.
“Where is he? Is he warm? Is he fed? Like what?” asked Amanda Pottery, Gizmo’s owner.
Pottery says the walk was only supposed to last for an agreed-upon amount of time, but as that time approached, she began to worry. When she tried contacting the person Gizmo was with, she couldn’t reach her. Since then, she’s been searching neighbourhoods, handing out posters and following up on possible sightings.

“I am really putting myself out there. This dog doesn’t have a voice, it’s as simple as that. He doesn’t have a voice. He can’t protect himself. He can’t, you know, he can’t do anything,” said Pottery.
Pottery believes the person who originally left with Gizmo may also be missing, although Winnipeg police did not confirm that despite CityNews’ request for comment on Wednesday. Pottery says she doesn’t know who has her dog now, and her biggest priority is making sure everyone involved is safe.

“I especially don’t want anybody to be attacking whoever has the dog because we don’t know who has the dog right now. We don’t know if it was the individual that took it, somebody that found it. And no matter who it was, I don’t want anybody getting hurt in this process,” said Pottery.
Gizmo is black and brown, with a small bald spot on his head. Pottery says he’s never been away from home like this before. Pottery has also filed a report with Winnipeg police.

“I truly just want Gizmo back. So, I’ve said it so many times, any, you know, Co-op, gas station, McDonald’s, like, I don’t care. Just drop him off, leave my phone number and just walk away and I will happily come pick him up and that’s the end of it. Like, I just really, we want our baby back.”
