Exclusive: Carlos Prates Reveals How He Plans to Finish Michael Morales at UFC 336

Carlos Prates has given his two cents on how he plans to finish Michael Morales at UFC 336.

For starters, Prates, the top welterweight contender, is not happy after reigning champion Islam Makhachev declined to fight him in January despite verbally agreeing to the matchup at first.

The Brazilian, who has knocked out two former UFC champions back-to-back and is currently riding a three-fight knockout streak, now has to first defeat Morales at UFC 336, capture the interim title, and then dethrone Makhachev to claim the undisputed welterweight throne.

Carlos Prates On How He Plans to Finish Michael Morales at UFC 336

During a recent exclusive interview with LowKick MMA, conducted with the help of Squawka, Carlos Prates was asked how he plans to finish Michael Morales at UFC 336. When answering, Prates opined that fight night, once the octagon door shuts, he will be doing what he loves the most and what he has done to win every UFC fight so far:

“Of course by knockout, like always.”

“The Nightmare” also added that he plans to drag the undefeated Ecuadorian fighter into deep waters before finishing him in the third round:

“Get my bonus, maybe third round or something like that. Is it going to be fireworks? Yes, I want to get the bonus again against Morales.”

Morales is also riding a three-fight streak of first-round knockout wins. So fans can expect the UFC 336 co-main event to deliver “fireworks” when the two heavy knockout artists collide.

Why did Islam Makhachev decide not to fight Carlos Prates at UFC 336?

Islam Makhachev believes that since Carlos Prates has lost to Ian Machado Garry, whom Makhachev beat at UFC 330, Prates must now fight Michael Morales and win before getting a title shot. Makhachev has also revealed that his next fight would be one of the final bouts of his career. As a result, he wants to take on the best of the best rather than settle for just the top contender.

My next fight is one of the last in my career.

They say Prates is too dangerous for me and Morales is too good for me.

So I want to face the best of them and prove to the world once again who is the best in world. pic.twitter.com/bQSw97TzNe
