BRENDAN RODGERS has hinted there could be some frantic action in the transfer market this week.

The Celtic manager is preparing his players for tomorrow night’s winner-take-all second leg of the Champions League play-off against Kairat Almaty in Kazakhstan after last week’s goalless draw at Parkhead.

There is a cash prize of £40million up for grabs for the winners, but the Hoops gaffer took his focus off Europe to offer an update on transfer speculation.

Asked if there will be any movement in the market before Monday’s 7pm deadline, Rodgers, speaking to the Daily Record, answered: “There might be.

SALES TALK…Brendan Rodgers in Kazakhstan.

“I think by the time we get back, hopefully, we’ll be close to one or two things, yeah.”

As ever, the Celtic boss refused to reveal identities, but it seems certain Michel-Ange’s £4.5million deal from Royal Antwerp will be finalised within the next few days, as CQN reported earlier today.

The Hoops are also in advanced negotiations with Boca Juniors over a deal for Uruguay international left-back Marcelo Saracchi.

There are reports that a temporary transfer deal with the option for a permanent deal in the summer is close to being finalised.

And there have been developments concerning £7million-rated Romanian striker Louis Munteanu who has been reportedly fined by Cluj after going AWOL during the week in an effort to force a move away from the club.

CHEERIO, TILIO…Celtic winger Marco Tilio has sealed his move to Rapid Vienna.

The hitman, who scored 25 goals last season, was dropped from the matchday squad for Sunday’s 4-1 defeat to Oțelul and apparently now faces a cash punishment by Cluj.

In the meantime, Australian international winger Marco Tilio has sealed his £1.3million four-year switch from the champions to Rapid Vienna, as CQN reported last week.

The 24-year-old flanker joined from A-League outfit Melbourne City in the summer 2023, but played a mere TWENTY-EIGHT minutes in two cameo appearances for the first team.

In a post on social media site X, Celtic said: “We can confirm that Marco Tilio has joined Rapid Vienna.

“Best of luck and thank you, Marco.”
