Golfers will play two rounds, 36 holes, over two days on Tuesday and Wednesday, before the top 70 players, plus anyone else tied, move into the final round on Thursday.
Among the field is former world number one and multi-time champion at this event, Shelly Stouffer from Nanoose Bay.
“We’ve got a lot of past champions coming to this event, Golf Canada let us know that this is probably one of the largest fields in the last couple of years that’s coming to play at our at our course,” Stephen added.
First tee time each day is 7:30 a.m., with the final group starting their rounds at 2:30 p.m.
The general public are invited to watch the event, which is being seen by club organizers as another way to grow the profile of the club amongst the Canadian golf community.
Stephen said they hosted a national tournament in 2019, then had to regroup somewhat after the pandemic.
“Since then, we hosted numerous provincial amateur events, and along with our annual women’s amateur and men’s amateur events, and Club Championship, this one really put us on the map and again for the next couple of years, we’ll be on the radar with Golf Canada.”
The winner of this week’s event earns a place in the U.S. Women’s Senior Championship, the U.S. Women’s Senior Open and two other Canadian championships.
