{"id":100002,"date":"2025-08-27T04:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-27T04:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/100002\/"},"modified":"2025-08-27T04:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T04:44:07","slug":"im-ready-to-show-the-world-how-great-i-am-vs-lester-martinez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/100002\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018I&#8217;m ready to show the world how great I am\u2019 vs. Lester Martinez"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/fighters\/christian-mbilli-1400\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christian Mbilli<\/a> is prepared to seize his breakthrough moment when he faces <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/fighters\/lester-martinez-3070697\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lester Martinez<\/a> on the undercard of the <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/schedule\/fights\/canelo-vs-crawford\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford<\/a> fight on Sept. 13.<br \/>The world will be watching the <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/schedule\/fights\/mbilli-vs-martinez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">action unfold on Netflix<\/a> from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and that\u2019s exactly what Mbilli, a French-Cameroonian based in Canada, wants.<br \/>\u201cI&#8217;m ready to put on a big show for this event and send a message that I am the next guy that will face the winner of Canelo-Crawford,\u201d Mbilli told <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Ring<\/a>. \u201cIt&#8217;s the fight of my life, but I&#8217;m ready to show the world how great I am.\u201d<br \/>Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs) is <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/ring-ranking\/ring\/Men\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Ring\u2019s No. 1-rated fighter at 168 pounds<\/a> and is <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/news\/christian-mbilli-blows-out-maciej-sulecki-stops-him-with-vicious-right-uppercut-in-1st-round\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">coming in hot off a one-round demolition of Maciej Sulecki in June for the WBC interim title<\/a>. A unanimous-decision win against Sergiy Derevyanchenko in August 2024 preceded that.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez (19-0, 16 KOs) is rated No. 3 (WBA), No. 7 (WBC) and No. 15 (IBF) and is coached by Crawford\u2019s trainer Brian McIntyre. The 29-year-old from Guatemala must overcome a history of health problems that have forced him to abruptly pull out of three fights on short notice over the last year. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope he doesn&#8217;t have any health issues before we fight,\u201d said Mbilli. \u201cMartinez looks like a very strong guy. He can box. He can fight. His power and physicality impress me. He looks complete. It&#8217;s going to be a big challenge for me, but we are putting in the right strategies to beat him. I am not taking this fight lightly. It&#8217;s not easy, and he could be my hardest fight yet. He&#8217;s coming to fight and coming to win, but I will be ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martinez last fought in March when he <a class=\"underline hover:text-redColor\" href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/news\/lester-martinez-drops-stops-joeshon-james-in-four-to-retain-wba-continental-title\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stopped Joeshon James in four rounds<\/a>. He was supposed to face Pierre Hubert Dibombe in July but pulled out of the matchup on fight week because of migraines. <\/p>\n<p>Before beating James, Martinez scored a unanimous decision win against Carlos Gongora in June 2024. Mbilli also fought Gongora in March 2023 and notched a unanimous decision victory, but admitted that Martinez&#8217;s win against the common opponent was more impressive. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think his performance against Gongora was better than mine,\u201d said Mbilli. \u201cGongora touched me a little bit. But it doesn&#8217;t matter once Martinez and I get in the ring. I&#8217;m going to make him pay once he makes mistakes.
