Following Bruce\u2018s 2023 dementia diagnosis and retirement from the acting industry, Emma became his caretaker. <\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday (August 26), Emma sat down with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/tags\/diane-sawyer\/\" title=\"Diane Sawyer\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Diane Sawyer<\/a> to share an update on her husband\u2019s health. <\/p>\n<p>Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/extratv\/status\/1960439607775928746\" onclick=\"getOutboundLink(&#039;https:\/\/x.com\/extratv\/status\/1960439607775928746&#039;); return false;\" rel=\"nofollow\">clip of the interview<\/a>, Emma said that while Bruce is \u201cstill very mobile,\u201d he\u2019s been struggling with cognitive decline in recent years due to his dementia diagnosis. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBruce is in really great health overall. It\u2019s just his brain that is failing him,\u201d Emma said during the interview. \u201cThe language is going, and we\u2019ve learned to adapt. And we have a way of communicating with him, which is just a different way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emma went on to share that despite the decline, there are still moments when she sees the Bruce that she once knew, she said in the interview. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s his laugh, right? Like, he has such a hearty laugh. And, you know, sometimes you\u2019ll see that twinkle in his eye, or that smirk, and, you know, I just get transported,\u201d Emma shared during the interview. \u201cAnd it\u2019s just hard to see, because as quickly as those moments appear, then it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emma continued and said, \u201cIt\u2019s hard, but I\u2019m grateful.
