\n\tWhile Austin Butler<\/a> continues to take on darker roles, he\u2019s getting advice from some A-listers who are helping him see he can \u201ccome out the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a new Men\u2019s Health<\/a> cover story to promote his upcoming thriller Caught Stealing<\/a><\/a>, directed by Darren Aronofsky, Butler opens up about what he\u2019s learned from other actors that\u2019s helped him to pull away from method acting. Notably, after the actor finished filming 2022\u2019s Elvis, he was \u201crushed to the hospital\u201d<\/a> due to his body \u201cshutting down.\u201d <\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor a long time, I felt that it had to be a tortured process and I would come out the other side broken,\u201d Butler said. \u201cRather than just putting parts of yourself away and trying to pretend that they don\u2019t exist, it\u2019s like going into the gross bits of yourself \u2014 going into the bits that you don\u2019t want to look at \u2014 and finding a way of integrating that into the whole.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, while he was recently filming A24\u2019s crime film, Enemies, alongside Jeremy Allen White, he decided to create more balance in his life.<\/p>\n

\n\tTo unwind from his busy schedule during shooting, he turns to working out and taking a cold shower, both of which help him fall asleep easier. This routine was something he observed from Tom Hardy, his co-star in 2023\u2019s The Bikeriders. He recalled, \u201cAfter shooting all night, Hardy would go home, put on a\u00a0weighted vest and do 1,000\u00a0box jumps.\u201d Butler added he also needs to step outside and get some sun: \u201cI\u2019m just trying to find little things like that. Sometimes it\u2019s the mundane little things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhite noted, \u201cI think Austin is at this point in his life where doing the best work he can is very important, and I think it always will be, but I think he\u2019s searching for some stability in life as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd while he hasn\u2019t worked with Laura Dern<\/a> in a project before, after he met her at an event, she helped him to see that when he\u2019s \u201cexploring the shadow self,\u201d in a heavier role, that doesn\u2019t mean it has to \u201cdestroy the rest of his life,\u201d the article explained.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe\u2019s helping me more and more to see that you can come out the other side, and maybe bits of you have healed, and synthesized, and metabolized.
