\n\tChris Columbus<\/a> has said pictures of Hagrid from the set of HBO<\/a>\u2018s Harry Potter<\/a> series have left him wondering why J.K. Rowling<\/a>\u2018s books are being adapted again.<\/p>\n

\n\tColumbus was central to establishing the hit movie series after directing Harry Potter and the Sorcerer\u2019s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets with a cast including Daniel Radcliffe<\/a>, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tAppearing on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, Columbus said he was somewhat baffled by the HBO TV series remake, which is currently shooting in the UK.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Home Alone helmer said he had seen unofficial photos of the HBO series filming in London and was struck by how similar Rubeus Hagrid\u2019s costume and body double were to those used for Robbie Coltrane. Hagrid is played by Nick Frost<\/a> in the TV series.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSo, I\u2019m seeing these photographs \u2026 and he\u2019s wearing the exact same costume that we designed for Hagrid. Part of me was like: What\u2019s the point?\u201d Columbus said. \u201cI thought everything was going to be different, but it\u2019s more of the same. It\u2019s all going to be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe continued: \u201cIt\u2019s very flattering for me, because I\u2019m like, that\u2019s exactly the Hagrid costume that we designed. So, part of it is really exciting, so I\u2019m excited to see what they\u2019re going to do with it. Part of it is sort of deja vu all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColumbus, who recently described Rowling\u2019s transgender views as \u201cvery sad,\u201d added that he was not envious that HBO would be able to adapt the Harry Potter books on a bigger canvas than the movies. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cJealous? No,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s time to move on. I\u2019ve always had issues with [the] idea of franchise. I feel like I\u2019ve done it \u2026 I\u2019m really proud of those films, the first three that I was involved with, and I\u2019m moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tColumbus is currently promoting Netflix movie The Thursday Murder Club<\/a>, which is based on the books of Richard Osman<\/a>.
