{"id":102335,"date":"2025-08-28T03:30:11","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T03:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/102335\/"},"modified":"2025-08-28T03:30:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-28T03:30:11","slug":"dodgers-freddie-freeman-sidelined-with-neck-nerve-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/102335\/","title":{"rendered":"Dodgers&#8217; Freddie Freeman sidelined with neck nerve issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aug 27, 2025, 07:11 PM ET<\/p>\n<p>LOS ANGELES &#8212; All-Star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/30193\/freddie-freeman\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Freddie Freeman<\/a> was out of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/lad\/los-angeles-dodgers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a> lineup on Wednesday because of a nerve issue in his neck.<\/p>\n<p>Manager Dave Roberts said Freeman had a &#8220;stinger,&#8221; which typically affects a network of nerves extending from the neck into the shoulder and arm.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s something that is recurring, but it&#8217;s been kind of showing itself a little bit the last couple days,&#8221; Roberts said. &#8220;I think that just giving him a couple days, with the off day tomorrow, he&#8217;ll be back on Friday.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/player\/_\/id\/31358\/enrique-hernandez\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a> was set to start at first base in place of Freeman against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/cin\/cincinnati-reds\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cincinnati Reds<\/a>. Hern\u00e1ndez was 2-for-3 with a run scored Tuesday in his first game since July 6, when he went on the injured list.<\/p>\n<p>Freeman was 1-for-4 with a double in the Dodgers&#8217; 6-3 win Tuesday. He leads the National League with a .302 average in pursuit of his first career batting title.
