PENTWATER \u2014 The Falcons hosted Oakridge in a boys soccer game in which Aron Mascorro scored both goals, but they wound up losing 6-2 in their home opener as the Falcons were only able to answer the rampage once.<\/p>\n
Not long after the start of the first half, Moscorro opened up the scoring as he elevated a free kick just out of reach of the Oakridge goalkeeper for what would be the Falcons first goal of the season.<\/p>\n
After that, the floodgates opened as Oakridge went on a six-goal rampage, answered only by a second half goal by Moscorro, who was assisted by Brayden Stein.<\/p>\n
In goal for the Falcons, Gavin Macher had seven saves and Benjamin Wisenbaugh had 13.<\/p>\n
They were shut out August 18 at Newaygo, 7-0.<\/p>\n
Afterward, Pentwater Co-Head Coach Roelof Actherhof said,<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the first goal, we played a game on Monday so things didn\u2019t go well on Monday so we changed things up.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt went a lot better today in the first half, Roelof said. \u201cBut after that goal, yes, we did slow down a bit \u2026 I don\u2019t know why, but they did.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have basically a new team; we lost nine seniors last year so some of the guys were eighth-graders,\u201d Roelof said.<\/p>\n
Roelof said those eighth-graders did not play last season and that he has two players from Walkerville to help fill out his roster.<\/p>\n
The players from Walkerville are Moscarro and Damien Montoya.<\/p>\n
Mandy Achterhof is the other co-coach.<\/p>\n
