Once again, we\u2019re being spoiled \u2013 not unlike our host country, just in a good way rather than a fascist way. Happily, that could never happen in the UK, but just in case it\u2019s in the process, let\u2019s make sure we gorge on some good vibes to salve our seething disgust, intensifying fear and burgeoning rage.<\/p>\n
We begin today with a variety of intriguing matchups, chief among them Alexander Zverev \u2013 who may never get over his various grand slam final collapses and pummellings \u2013 against Jacob Fearnley. But at the same time, Lorenzo Musetti meets David Goffin, Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on the dangerous Daniel Altmaier and Beatriz Haddad Maia, whose powerful aggression has long been a favourite of this blog, faces Viktorija Golubic. Oh yeah, and Iga Swiatek<\/a>, tennis\u2019 form and most frighteningly focused player, addresses Suzan Lamens.<\/p>\n Franky, that\u2019s enough for an entire session, but there\u2019s so, so much more. Andrey Rublev is e also involved in the first tranche of matches, after which Jannik Sinner<\/a>, the defending champ, gets going again, Alexei Popyrin a properly dangerous opponent.<\/p>\n My potential match of the day, though, comes on Armstrong, where Hailey Baptiste will have a go at Naomi Osaka<\/a> \u2013 though I\u2019m also excited to see Sorana Cirsrtea try to upset another favourite, Karolina Muchova. Add to that Amanda Anisimova v Maya Joint, plus appearances from Daria Kasatkina, Alex De Minaur, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Maria Sakkari, Denis Shapovalov and Karen Khachanov, and we\u2019re all set for another burst of joy and love exactly when we need it most.<\/p>\n
