Frankie Muniz\u00a0has suffered a serious injury that will require a six- to eight-week recovery process.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the \u201cMalcolm in the Middle\u201d alum-turned-professional race car driver took to social media to announce that he is unable to compete in an upcoming\u00a0NASCAR\u00a0race after he took a hard fall off a ladder in his backyard.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe phrase \u2018FML\u2019 (Frankie Muniz\u2019s Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these. I\u2019m disappointed to share that I won\u2019t be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture,\u201d he captioned the\u00a0Instagram<\/a>\u00a0post. \u201cYesterday, I fell from the top of a ladder while changing the batteries in a Ring camera in my backyard. Note to self: heed the ladder warning that says, \u2018Do not sit or stand on top step.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn hindsight, a taller ladder would\u2019ve been smarter. While I\u2019m gutted to miss the races, I\u2019m grateful it wasn\u2019t worse,\u201d he continued. \u201cI feel for my team, who\u2019ve poured their hearts into this season, and I\u2019m thankful for @FordPerformance and their unwavering support. The doctor estimates a 6-8 week recovery, so I\u2019ll be back in the driver\u2019s seat as soon as I\u2019m cleared.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0Johns Hopkins Medicine<\/a>, distal radius fractures are among the most common types of bone fractures. <\/p>\n

They occur at the end of the radius bone near the wrist.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A representative for Muniz did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital\u2019s request for comment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The fracture came nearly a year after Muniz suffered multiple injuries from a multi-vehicle collision while competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in Avondale, Arizona.<\/p>\n

In the aftermath of the crash, sports reporter Noah Lewis shared a\u00a0video<\/a>\u00a0of Muniz in which the \u201cMalcolm in the Middle\u201d alum was seen limping and bending over while being assisted into an ambulance on the track. In his post on X, formerly Twitter, Lewis wrote that Muniz had taken a \u201chard hit.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the race, Muniz\u00a0told\u00a0reporters<\/a> that he was \u201cOK,\u201d adding that the crash was \u201cunfortunate.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though it\u2019s been several years since Muniz said goodbye to his life in\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0and made the choice to pursue a different career, the former child star doesn\u2019t seem to have any regrets.<\/p>\n

After wrapping up the hit sitcom \u201cMalcolm in the Middle\u201d in 2006, Muniz took a hiatus from acting to focus on professional race car driving \u2014 a decision he\u2019s never looked back on.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an actor, like, I\u2019ve been fortunate to do a lot of great things and people tell me, \u2018I love your show, or I love this or love that,\u2019 but, you know, it\u2019s all based on opinion,\u201d he told Fox News Digital last year. \u201cI could show up to work as an actor and dedicate my life to the role and feel like I did the best job ever. And then people see it and go, \u2018Yeah, it was OK. I didn\u2019t like it.\u2019 Where, as a racecar driver, it\u2019s not subjective. It\u2019s in black and white. You either win and you\u2019re the fastest or you\u2019re slow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was really kind of thrown off the deep end, but that\u2019s how I like to do things,\u201d Muniz added about his career shift. \u201cWhen I do something, I like to commit fully, right? I mean, people go, \u2018What are your hobbies?\u2019 I don\u2019t have hobbies. I want to be the best at whatever it is I do. And if I can\u2019t dedicate the time and effort to do that, I just won\u2019t do it. I don\u2019t want to be mediocre. That\u2019s not fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, Muniz appeared on \u201cFox & Friends\u201d to reveal his decision to move to racing full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe it, it\u2019s a dream come true,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s something that I\u2019ve always wanted to do, and the fact that I actually get to announce that I\u2019m doing it full-time next year, I\u2019m thrilled. I can\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also shared, \u201cIf I\u2019m going to do this, I want to dedicate myself to it 100%\u2026 doing everything I can to be prepared for the races and to be the best race car driver I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n
