spoke to People<\/a> about parenthood and said she always envisioned her with a “big family.”<\/p>\n“I\u2019m a late bloomer. I\u2019m a late bloomer with a lot of things and you know \u2014 nobody\u2019s perfect. I\u2019m an overachiever in some ways and just like slow as molasses in other ways,” she said. “I think I kind of needed to grow and mature and get everything kind of taken care of with everything before I was able to really deal with it.”<\/p>\n
The “U.N.I.T.Y.” rapper also opened up about adoption and said that’s always something that’s caught her eye.<\/p>\n
“I definitely want to adopt,” she said.<\/p>\n
Queen Latifah added that it didn’t matter how old the child was — she just wanted to be there to give them a sense of family.<\/p>\n
“To me, it’s the most unselfish thing you could do, to be a parent. It’s not about you at all. It’s about what you can give to support this child growing into adulthood. And so it doesn’t matter if it’s a baby or a toddler or a teenager, for that matter,” she said. “As long as they get to feel like they have a mother, they have a home, they have a family and somebody who’s there for them.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Queen Latifah made a rare appearance with her young son, Rebel.
