Arne Slot<\/a> is happy for Eddie Howe that Newcastle<\/a> have landed a new No. 9, but he remained coy on what that means for Liverpool\u2019s plans in the transfer window.<\/p>\n

After firing blanks in pursuits for the likes of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Hugo Ekitike<\/a> and Benjamin Sesko, Newcastle<\/a> have agreed a deal<\/a> worth \u20ac80 million (\u00a369.3m) for Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade.<\/p>\n

Woltemade arrived on Tyneside on Thursday evening ahead of undergoing his medical as the Magpies look to have the German registered in time to play Leeds<\/a> on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The breakthrough finally leaves the door ajar for Liverpool to make another move for Alexander Isak as the Swede continues to be isolated away from Newcastle<\/a>\u2018s squad.<\/p>\n

With Slot fronting the media on Friday ahead of Arsenal<\/a>\u2018s visit, he was asked about Isak and the remainder of the transfer window, to which he, as always, remained coy. <\/p>\n

\u201cNewcastle<\/a> signed, if it\u2019s true and I have no reason not to believe what you\u2019re saying, a new No. 9, which is very nice for Eddie Howe,\u201d he started.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Pressed on how likely Liverpool are to add to their squad, Slot said: \u201cI think I\u2019ve said after Monday evening that again, I could make a substitution that impacted the game. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s what Federico did against Bournemouth<\/a>, that\u2019s what Rio did now against Newcastle<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo as always, we try to sign players that can help us, but there\u2019s no reason after the first two games to complain or to think we need more. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut if we can strengthen the squad, then we will always try to do that, if it\u2019s for the right money and it\u2019s the right player.<\/p>\n

It is a typical response from Slot, who leaves the door ajar without ever overcommitting, but it is no secret that Liverpool have two targets left on the board in Isak and Marc Guehi.<\/p>\n
