The local branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association will benefit from golf lessons taught at Predator Ridge Resort and the Vernon Golf and Country Club by professionals<\/p>\n

Two Vernon golf courses have taken up the challenge of a program founded by a Vernon golfer.<\/p>\n

The PGA of BC Teach-a-Thon for Mental Health is on now until Sept. 30 in communities across B.C.<\/p>\n

The Teach-a-Thon, the brainchild of Vernon’s Brady Stead, now a teaching pro in Abbotsford, is an exciting opportunity to strengthen your swing while championing mental health in your community.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“You\u2019ll learn tips and tricks from PGA of BC professionals, with proceeds from lesson fees going towards Canadian Mental Health Associations\u00a0(CMHA) in B.C.,” said Vicki Proulx,\u00a0director of fund development and communications with\u00a0CMHA Vernon and District.<\/p>\n

You can participate with two local golf courses in Vernon:<\/p>\n

“Every dollar raised\u00a0in the Vernon community stays in the North Okanagan, providing vital support for people facing mental health challenges,” said Proulx. “Funds raised in Vernon for CMHA Vernon and District will support our food security program for both adults and youth. Access to sufficient, healthy food is a key factor in supporting overall mental wellness.”<\/p>\n

Stead, who works out of the Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, launched the Steady Golf Teach-a-Thon for Mental Health in 2023, teaching golf from dawn to dusk with 100 per cent of the lessons’ revenue, along with donations, going to CMHA.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He has raised nearly $10,000 to provide help and hope to those struggling with mental illness.<\/p>\n

Stead lost a family member to suicide when he was trying to qualify for the European Golf Tour.<\/p>\n

This year, The PGA of BC,\u00a0CMHA and Stead are introducing the 2025 Teach-a-thon for Mental Health.\u00a0What’s new, is that all PGA of BC professionals can join the Teach-a-thon for Mental Health and change the lives of people in their local community living with mental health challenges.<\/p>\n
