BARK RIVER, Mich. \u2013 In a loaded field on a familiar course, the Illinois State men’s golf team opens play for the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon in the first of two days at the Island Resort Intercollegiate, hosted by South Dakota State.<\/p>\n
Event: 2025 Island Resort Intercollegiate Redbird Lineup:\u00a0TJ Barger<\/a>, Francis Bautista<\/a>, Max Faucquez<\/a>, Aiden Cudney<\/a>, Gonzalo Cuellar<\/a> – INDIVIDUAL: Pietro Pontiggia<\/a><\/p>\n OSF and the Redbirds History at the Event: During the previous three seasons, Illinois State has opened their season at this event, and has fared well, including winning the tournament in its first season, and finishing as runner-up in 2023. The 2023 season saw the Redbirds record the then-second-lowest tournament score in school history, while the 856 from the 2022 season remains tied for the 25th-lowest tournament score in the history of the program. The team’s opening-round 278 in 2023 remains tied as the 16th-lowest round score in school history, while Alex McCulla’s<\/a> tournament score of 199 in 2023 remains tied for the lowest tournament score in school history.<\/p>\n 2022: 1st \/ 13 (287-285-284–856) About the Golf Course:\u00a0Sage Run, ranked among Golf Digest’s America’s Best New Courses, meanders through beautiful Upper Peninsula hardwoods and open vistas with very dramatic views. A natural drumlin, or elongated hill or ridge formed by glacial ice long ago, is the primary feature on Sage Run. A variety of golf holes meander off of and around the hill offering a scenic variety of shots creating a fun thrill ride for golfers.
