\n\tSnoop Dogg<\/a> has addressed the controversial comments<\/a> he made over his response to his grandson\u2019s questions about a same-sex couple in Lightyear, and the backlash<\/a> that ensued.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cMy bad,\u201d he wrote in a comment on an Instagram post shared on Wednesday from Hollywood Unlocked<\/a>. It features the hosts discussing Snoop Dogg\u2019s comments with media personality Ts Madison.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons,\u201d he wrote. \u201cAll my gay friends [know] what\u2019s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old. Teach me how to learn. I\u2019m not perfect.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tDuring a recent appearance on the\u00a0It\u2019s Giving\u2026 Podcast, Snoop told a story about watching Lightyear with his grandson when Snoop said his grandson asked him, \u201c\u2018Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She\u2019s a woman.\u2019 Ah shit, I didn\u2019t come in here for this shit. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.\u201d Snoop said he encouraged his grandson to just watch the movie, but his grandson continued to ask more questions.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m scared to go to the movies now,\u201d Snoop said. \u201cY\u2019all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don\u2019t have an answer for.\u201d In a since-deleted part of the podcast, he said that the\u00a0Lightyear\u00a0scene \u201cthrew me for a loop,\u201d adding, \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018What part of the movie was this?\u2019 These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They\u2019re going to ask questions. I created the LIGHTYEAR lesbians,\u201d Gunderson wrote in a statement on\u00a0Instagram<\/a>. Gunderson detailed that \u201ca key character needed a partner, and it was so natural to write \u2018she\u2019 instead of \u2018he.\u2019 As small as that detail is in the film, I knew the representational effect it could have. Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019m proud of it. To infinity. Love is love,\u201d Gunderson continued. \u201cI was one of a few writers they had on it over the years, which is very common for screenwriting of course. I had very little to do with the final script. But I was proud to see a happy queer couple (even for a few seconds) onscreen.
