Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 8 seed, moved into the last 16 of the US Open when German Daniel Altmaier retired on Saturday evening at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York.<\/p>\n

De Minaur, ranked No 8, led 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-4, 2-0 when Altmaier, ranked No 56, pulled out at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

Altmaier had been playing for over 10 hours in his previous matches and required two medical timeouts to treat a thigh strain during the match against de Minaur.<\/p>\n

The Australian will face Swiss qualifier Leandro Riedi next.<\/p>\n
