It’s off to the quarterfinals for Carlos Alcaraz.<\/p>\n

The 2-seed defeated Arthur Rinderknech 7-6, 6-3, 6-5 on Sunday, continuing his dominant run at this year’s U.S. Open. The 2025 French Open winner has yet to concede a set in Flushing Meadows.<\/p>\n

Alcaraz won<\/a> 85 percent of his first-serve points, smashed 36 winners and had just 11 unforced errors, compared to 28 for Rinderknech. It was another fantastic performance from the rising superstar.<\/p>\n

He will now face Jiri Lehecka in the quarters. The two have faced each other three times, with Alcaraz holding a 2-1 advantage in the head-to-head matchup, though they’ve split a pair of meetings against one another in 2025. Among the players he could face in the semifinals includes tennis legend Novak Djokovic and last year’s U.S. Open finalist, the United States’ Taylor Fritz.<\/p>\n

Top overall seed and defending champion Jannik Sinner looms in the top half of the bracket, fresh off of beating Alcaraz at the Wimbledon final.<\/p>\n

A rematch of that final, and a reprisal of what has become the best rivalry in men’s tennis, is surely what fans are hoping to see. The pair of have won the past seven Grand Slam titles (four for Sinner, three for Alcaraz) and faced each other in two straight Grand Slam finals.<\/p>\n

Add Djokovic to the mix, and the three players have claimed 13 straight Grand Slam titles (five for Alcaraz, four apiece for Sinner and Djokovic).
