SPARTANBURG, S.C. \u2013 The UAB men’s soccer team (1-2-0) beat USC Upstate (1-2-1) in their first ever matchup, by a final score of 3-1.

\nUAB was in need of a win after competing against ACC opponents Louisville and No. 6 Clemson.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nOle Jessen<\/a> got on the scoresheet first with a goal in the 16th minute, which was his 3rd career goal. Jessen scored on a strike from outside the 18-yard box that was assisted by Humphrey Doh<\/a>. UAB dominated the first half with nine shots and three of those on frame.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nThe Spartans equalized just 10 minutes out of halftime in the 55th minute by Oscar Kelly.\u00a0
\n\u00a0
\nUAB took the lead back when Gael Zackrisson<\/a> scored his first goal in a Blazers uniform in the 70th minute. Humphrey Doh<\/a> got his second assist of the night. Six minutes later in the 76th minute, Ole Jessen<\/a> scored his second goal of the night with a right footed blast into the upper left corner. Doh grabbed his third assist of the night, and for the first time since 2021 a Blazer got three assists in a single game.

\nUAB got its first win of the season 3-1, outshooting the Spartans 17-10 and only allowed two shots on frame.\u00a0

\n\tOle Jessen<\/a> finished the night with two wonderful goals.
\n\tHumphrey Doh<\/a> put together a three assists performance. <\/p>\n
