SASKATOON, Sask. – On Wednesday morning (May 7), the Canadian Football League (CFL) announced<\/a> the nine U SPORTS quarterbacks from across the nation who\u00a0have been provided the opportunity to take part in CFL Rookie Camps and Training Camps as part of the league’s QB Internship Program. Among those featured in the 2025 class were two University of Saskatchewan (USask) signal callers in Anton Amundrud<\/a> and Cohen Wright<\/a> who will join their respective CFL clubs later this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n Launched in 2010, the CFL QB Internship provides young, U SPORTS quarterbacks the opportunity to join CFL clubs in the lead up to the regular season to further develop their skills, participate in practices, and attend team and positional meetings.\u00a0<\/p>\n 2024 starting field general Anton Amundrud<\/a> will be staying close to home as he joins the Saskatchewan Roughriders camp set to take place once again at Griffiths Stadium in Nutrien Park. Amundrud, a product of Lloydminster, Alberta entering his fourth year of eligibility, put together an impressive campaign last season in Canada West action. The second year starter led the conference in passing yards (2,275), passing touchdowns (11), and completion percentage (68.8%) while guiding the Huskies to a 5-3 record and Hardy Cup berth. Amundrud will also be representing the Dogs at the 2025 East-West Bowl, set to take place in Waterloo, Ontario later this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n Meanwhile quarterback Cohen Wright<\/a> will head back to his hometown of Calgary, Alberta to join the Stampeders for rookie and training camps. As a freshman in 2024 Wright saw minimal action, taking the field just once in the Dogs’ pre-season exhibition game against the Alberta Golden Bears. The 6-foot-1 business major went 5-for-6 for 73 yards with a long of 22 against the Bears, while adding two rushing attempts for a negative gain. Wright will look to take advantage of some valuable experience when he returns to a USask quarterback room full of young talent.\u00a0<\/p>\n CFL Rookie camps get underway this week with training camp running until the end of May.
