FRM and 23XI have both been running as \u201copen\u201d teams \u2013 that is, teams without active charters \u2013 which they argue has hurt their revenue streams and put them in danger of losing their drivers and sponsors. Now, after a summer of \u201cfact discovery,\u201d some rather explicit messages from both sides of the aisle have surfaced, shedding new light on the sticky situation between the teams and NASCAR itself.<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/nascar-cup\/news\/nascar-23xi-and-front-row-reveal-smoking-gun-documents-in-explosive-hearing-\/10754209\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">report<\/a> from\u00a0Motorsport, both parties requested and were granted access to documents and communications pertaining to the ongoing case. Some of the unearthed communications revealed that 23XI co-owner Michael Jordan (yes, that Michael Jordan) expressed explicit displeasure with other teams\u2019 decisions to sign the charter agreement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fordauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/NASCAR-Cup-Series-Race-Las-Vegas-Motor-Speedway-October-2023-001-No.-11-Toyota-TRD-Camry-Denny-Hamlin-No.-12-Ford-Mustang-Ryan-Blaney.jpg\" data-original-width=\"1500\" data-original-height=\"1000\" data-index=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-174311 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/NASCAR-Cup-Series-Race-Las-Vegas-Motor-Speedway-October-2023-001-No.-11-Toyota-TRD-Camry-Denny-Hamli.jpeg\" alt=\"Photo of the NASCAR Cup Series on track during a race, showing a NASCAR Ford competitor and the Toyota of Denny Hamlin. \" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jordan seemed frustrated that Joe Gibbs Racing, a Toyota team, signed the charter agreement after an \u201c11th hour\u201d deal. Jordan called JGR executives \u201cf***ers\u201d before going on to say that fellow Cup Series teams would regret not siding with 23XI and FRM, calling said teams \u201cp***ies\u201d for standing by and watching.<\/p>\n<p>On the opposite side of the aisle, communications between NASCAR President Steve Phelps and Steve O\u2019Donnell, the sport\u2019s commissioner, surfaced. Phelps admitted that the charter agreement presented \u201czero wins for the teams,\u201d while O\u2019Donnell explicitly said they wanted to reach an agreement reminiscent of past team structures, saying, \u201cClose to a comfortable 1996, f*** the teams, dictatorship, motorsport, redneck, southern, tiny sport.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fordauthority.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/NASCAR-Cup-Series-race-Daytona-August-2025-003-No.-12-Ford-Mustang-Dark-Horse-Ryan-Blaney-win-scaled.jpg\" data-original-width=\"2560\" data-original-height=\"1707\" data-index=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-231314\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/NASCAR-Cup-Series-race-Daytona-August-2025-003-No.-12-Ford-Mustang-Dark-Horse-Ryan-Blaney-win-720x48.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"480\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>FRM and 23XI could very well lose the case, and an unnamed buyer is in the market for their charters.
